Wyclef Speaking at WestConn
On Sunday, May 23rd, Western Connecticut State University (wcsu.edu) commemorated its new $97 million School of Music and Visual Arts with a commencement address by Grammy Award-winning recording artist and humanitarian, Wyclef Jean. WestConn, one of the four campuses operated by Connecticut State University, has carved a niche for itself by fostering its commitment for music and arts and was searching for a commencement speaker who had notable contributions in the field of arts and humanity. On behalf of the University, DSW secured Wyclef, who was selected to receive an honorary doctorate for his contributions in music and his humanitarian efforts benefiting Haiti through his Yelé Haiti foundation, an organization that is contributing to rebuilding Haiti after the devastating earthquake struck the country earlier this year.
